Q: Will you install art into my Ikea frame?
A: Sorry –but no. Ikea frames and some other pre-packaged frames as such are made for do-it-yourself-ers (DIY). The materials are usually quite poor and made with very specific applications in mind– and often cannot be easily modified. We do not recommend them in general and unfortunately will not work with them.
Q: Why does custom framing seem so costly?
A: Custom picture framing costs can range from moderate
to fairly costly. Some materials used in high quality custom
framing are expensive. The work is performed by skilled craftsmen. Good framing takes time and a fair measure of experience to insure the best results.
Q: Why does my artwork appear to be wavy or rippled in its
frame and what can be done about it?
A: Art on paper that has not been permanently mounted to
additional board material (ex. foamcore) can be affected by
the environment in which it resides (ie: one’s home).
Normal seasonal humidity may contribute to compromise
overall flatness of paper. Also, art created with wet media
(ex. watercolor paint on paper) will often cause paper to
be rippled when proper preventative techniques are not
followed. While it might be acceptable to mount
inexpensive art such as posters, it is not always
recommended for highly valuable or irreplaceable art.
Please refer to our downloadable pdf file for more
information regarding flatness issues.
Q: Do you frame art in “clip” frames or do you offer any
other type of “frameless” presentation treatments?
A: We do not frame art in any type of “clip” frame. We feel
that it is a poor framing solution and is best left to people
who like DIY solutions, One possible alternative
we do offer are very sleek, acrylic “box” frames.
Come to our shop to see a sample!
Q: Do you offer any in-home art hanging services?
A: We do not offer any hanging services at this time.
Although we do not have any particular company we would
recommend, we suggest looking for art handlers who
might be able to help.
Q: I don’t want to spend a lot to frame my large (30” x 40”)
poster. Is there a way to frame it inexpensively?
A: We do have some less expensive solutions for framing
large items. Unfortunately the costs of materials and the
labor involved in “framing large” do tend to be
exponentially more costly. The base price for framing a 30”
x 40” poster with reg. glass and acid-free backing would
be approximately $225.00.
Q: Do you give volume discounts?
A: Discounts are not regularly given. However, certain
conditions may open up this option for negotiation.
Q: Do you offer any ready made frames?
A: We offer a selection of very good quality ready made frames.
They are available in several standard sizes: 8”x 10”, 8 ½”x 11”, 11”x 14”, 16”x 20” and 18”x 24”.
